This past April 30th, players from the Columbus Aviators visited 2nd & 7’s Columbus Kid’s Book Bank for a hands-on volunteer experience. As a member team of the United Football League, the Columbus Aviators began their season in March of this year and are marking the return of professional outdoor football to Columbus for the first time since 1992.
Three players came from their practice facility at the Ohio State University campus to spend the afternoon supporting our literacy mission, as well as learning more about its impact in our community. During their visit, the players contributed to our efforts to improve literacy in our community by helping with important tasks such as reviewing, sorting, and stickering donated books. These books will make their way into the hands of children, schools, and families throughout our community, increasing accessibility to free, gently used books for anyone who needs them.
The visit additionally included a conversation with Ryan Miller, one of the founders of 2nd & 7 and former Ohio State Buckeyes football player from ’92 to ’96, who took spoke with and took photos with the players. The visit concluded with group pictures to celebrate their volunteer efforts and partnership.
