COACH VRABEL PAYS IT FORWARD
2nd & 7 was started in 1999 by three former Ohio State Buckeye football players: Ryan Miller, Luke Fickell, and Mike Vrabel. Inspired by their involvement in various community outreach programs as student-athletes, they decided to continue to pay it forward by promoting literacy and providing positive role models for children in central Ohio.
FUN FACTS
The first year, they provided free books to 2nd graders in 7 different schools (that is how 2nd & 7 got its name)
Donated over 1.2 million books to kids in need all across the country.
Over 475 programs in as many as 35 states over the past 26 years
This school year, over 750 teams and over 6,000 student-athletes participated in role model reading program
We are currently active in 20 states
Over 80,000 Hog Mollies books were handed out this past school year
Columbus Kids’ Book Bank has collected and distributed over 110,000 books since opening in 2023
