Special thank you to the Fairfield Foundation for their kind support of our 2nd & 7 Role Model Reading Program efforts in the Lancaster City Schools and the Fairfield-Union Local School District. We are excited to announce that 2nd & 7 has been named as a $5,000 grant recipient from their Patricia A. Beam Endowment Fund.
This generous support will allow us to reach 750 primary-aged readers and 75 high school student-athlete reading volunteers in the Lancaster area. During 2nd & 7 visits in Lancaster City Schools and the Fairfield-Union Local School District, athletes read a book from our Hog Mollies series with the elementary students, discuss the important life lesson in the story and distribute free copies of the book as a keepsake for each young reader. In turn, the participating athlete volunteers discover the importance of using their platform to influence a younger generation of students that look up to them.
Our huddle is strong thanks to community supporters who believe in our mission to promote reading by providing fee books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forward.
