The 2nd & 7 Foundation Hero Huddle

WHAT?

The 2nd & 7 Foundation Hero Huddle is a reading tutoring resource that pairs 2nd & 7 volunteers with children from schools already involved in The 2nd & 7 Foundation's reading program (grades 2-3). Volunteers have the chance to arrange visits (in person or virtually) with children directly through the schools, on behalf of The 2nd & 7 Foundation. Volunteer will provide child(ren) with book to keep after tutoring session.

WHO?

Volunteers can be current or former student-athletes, teachers, parents, grandparents, and corporate volunteer groups etc. who have completed 2nd & 7's online application process (below) and background checks when necessary.  Must be high-school age or above.

Requirements for all volunteers:

  1. Complete online application below.
  2. If necessary for in person visits, complete background check provided by school district.
  3. Schedule brief orientation with The 2nd & 7 Foundation staff before first reading visit.
  4. Must communicate all visits via online follow-up log. Click here to log a visit.
  5. FOR IN-PERSON VISITS ONLY: All visits will be coordinated directly between the volunteer and school contact for ease of scheduling.
  6. Volunteers commit to weekly readings for one month (minimum of 4 visits).
