Illiteracy has become such a serious problem in our country that 44 million adults are now unable to read a simple story to their children.

Kristin Haney, a junior at Ashland University, is our student-athlete of the week. Kristin is on the cheerleading squad and is majoring in early childhood education. She is also involved in Alpha Delta Pi and a member of the education honorary society, Kappa Delta Pi. After graduation, Kristin was aspirations of teaching preschool or kindergarten children.

Kristin shares, “These are some of the sweetest kids I have ever met, and it brings me joy seeing the smiles on their faces while we read to them. It makes me happy that we can provide great books that teach valuable life lessons, such as being kind. My absolute favorite part, however, is how this foundation teaches the importance of reading to the kids.”
