The Reading Program
The purpose of the 2nd & 7 Foundation is to help promote literacy. The foundation targets schools with economically disadvantaged kids and communities where we can make the biggest impact. With that in mind, we created the "Tackle Illiteracy" program.
The student-athletes from The Ohio State University are a huge part of our program. Every Thursday and Friday throughout the school year, student-athletes from various sports are out in the schools, reading to kids and handing out books. The college students remind the 2nd graders why reading is so important. They also use the messages in the Hog Mollies books to teach valuable lessons.
The 2nd & 7 Foundation was able to reach nearly 5000
2nd Graders in over 50 Central Ohio schools during the 2010 - 2011 school year.
